You can do that in 2 ways:

1) You can click once with your mouse on the screen, at the place where the character should go. Now the character will automatically walk to this spot.

2) You can also do this by clicking with your cursor on the screen and dragging. Now the character will keep following the cursor. This allows you to walk around more smoothly.
