As a parent, you can also enjoy and use Karaton. Especially for parents, we have written an algorithm in cooperation with Hogeschool Gent. This algorithm tests your child's level on all learning techniques and adapts all exercises to an appropriate level. Progress can also be monitored via the Karaton Academy, just like with the professional.

Register

If you register as a parent, when you create your account you can also immediately choose to create a profile for your child. If your child has already played Karaton before, you can also always choose to enter his or her Karaton ID.

Children's overview

As a parent, you can see all children connected to your Karaton account in the overview.

At the top of the screen you can also see useful documentation that can be downloaded, such as the Karaton manual and Karaton academy, a poster or practice calendar.

Karaton ID

The Karaton ID is a unique code that is created when a new child is created. By giving children a unique Karaton ID, it is possible to link all game data, such as mate- rials, builds and progress to a child without them having to remember their own e-mail address and password. This also makes it possible to quickly pass on all data to the professional when working with them.

Adding a child

You can add a new child by pressing the 'add child' button. Here you can choose to create a new profile or add an existing child via the Karaton ID.

Documents

In the documents tab, you can download the Karaton academy manual as well as the Karaton the game manual. You will also find practice calendars, a poster and a flyer to give to your professional.

Results

Pressing the child's profile will take you to the results. Here, as a parent, you can perfectly monitor your child's progress. These statistics distinguish between the number of words made and the level per reading technique. The number of words and accuracy can be found in the top graph. The levels per reading technique are shown in the lower graph.

Pro tip! For children, any kind of motivation is important especially when it comes to things they are struggling with. Discuss weekly results in Karaton Academy with your son or daughter to motivate them. It is important that they too recognise that it is quite a lot of practice.

Rewards

As extra motivation for children, the Karaton Academy has a reward functionality for parents. Here, parents can create rewards together with their children that children can earn.

The point system is linked to Karaton. Per correctly read word in Karaton, the child gets 1 point. As a parent, you can agree on a reward with your child for every x number of correctly read words.
